Celebrated My 3rd Blogversary

thankyouThe first post on this blog was made Oct. 22, 2010 and I was whining about the cold. It is crazy to think that it has been 3 years since that post. It is amazing to see the journey that God has taken me on. It is also astounding to see that I can actually continue something for such a long time.

I began this blog because I was feeling lost after I graduated with my Bachelors and got married. I was going through transition stages in my life, really giant ones…but I wasn’t really sure what I was pursuing. At the time I figured the best thing to do was to continue with the things I was involved in: working at the campus bookstore, and working with the most incredible mission trip program that I have ever known. I felt anxious, wondering what I would be able to accomplish with me life. For a time I also felt jaded…having been promised that I could “change the world” and struggling to learn to communicate with my new husband (as we potty trained a stubborn beagle in the winter).

The purpose of this blog became about celebrating even the little things in my life that God was developing. Over the years this has been random sharing about new products I liked, television shows, but mostly experiences. This blog has been a visual scrapbook and an encouragement to put one foot in front of the other in this adventure of serving the Lord.

Now, nearing the end of a certain journey (my Master’s degree/Internship) I find myself in a similar area of unknown, uncharted territory…but, I have 161 posts (and many others which will one day be posted when I catch up with life) that remind me of how faithful my God is. :0)

This post is to say “thank you” for being a part of this journey with me! Cheers!

  • Celebrated One Year at Tortuga Terrac... Today marks a special day! One year that hubby and I have lived at our first house! I think over the past year I officially forgot to introduce Tortuga Terrace. The name “Tortuga Terrace” is chosen to reflect the pirate theme that hubby and I have embraced from time to time, i.e. our recessional down [...]
  • Cuddled and Adopted a Penguin The weekend before last, I celebrated my birthday up north at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. According to my research its the closest zoo that offers penguin experiences/encounters. (And just $45 for a cheek to beak experience). I’d already lost my heart at one experience with Busch/Seaworld, but I wanted to see the penguins at one of [...]
  • Rescued Penguins For My Birthday I daydream about being a Disney princess…but it isn’t for the princes, the fancy castle, clothes, or even the books (I know *gasp*!) its because I secretly wish that I could whistle (ok, I can’t even whistle in the first place…) and animals would come walk over to me. Sure there are some animals that [...]
  • Ranted about the “Me Before You... Guys, why do we (especially the Christian conservatives) freak out about EVERY new book (but more so when its made into a movie) that comes out with an agenda that doesn’t quite match God’s standards? (Um, hello, there is one Bible, and its pretty clear that the world has different standards). This post is in [...]
  • Made Peace With The Highs and Lows I’m still trooping through the year trying to figure out what PEACE is, what it looks life in my life, and how to let more of it in, and let the bad stuff out. Something I’ve come to recognize (okay, really, just be honest with myself) these past few months are my struggles with the [...]

About Me

Hi! My name is Erin, and this is a place to "process out loud" in the words of my friends. You've probably noticed that the theme is kind of a wide theme, that is much like my life as I'm interested in MANY things: traveling, photography, jogging (its new!), being crafty, homesteading, firearms/self defense, and learning how to be a good wife. Through all of these things my goal is growing to know Christ more, and to make Him known. Each post shares a little about the promise that God has given me, that He'll finish what he began in me! (Phil 1:6) So thank you for joining me on this wonderful adventure.
