Been Pick Pocketed at the Fair

For years I’ve been wanting to visit the large fairs that come through the area, especially because I can’t remember having ever been to a fair.

Spontaneously, we drove up in the middle of one afternoon with our friends. I was soooo excited. I decided not to bring my giant camera, and photographed just using my camera phone.

First, there was the petting zoo.

We did all of the classics, like the Ferris Wheel. It was an incredible view to see the mountains in the background.

Eagerly I wanted to ride the “roller coaster” even if husband was a little concerned about the “put together rides.” It was great I enjoyed it!

Then, we were all pretty hungry. I had set my eye on some deep fried gummy bear. Husband and I were in the middle of a mis-communication. So I decided to wait until he purchased food, then go look myself, since I wasn’t sure what all I wanted, or from which booth.

Then he handed me a few dollars, I gave him a dubious look like “how am I supposed to purchase anything with that amount”, to which he handed me a $20 bill. I put it carefully in my pocket, and walked off. Looking at the prices I then checked for the bill. It wasn’t in my pocket. I looked around where I’d walked and didn’t see it anywhere on the ground. I got out of line, it wasn’t like I could buy anything now.

I walked back so lowly to the food court tables, with my head down. My friends laughed from afar, because apparently what had happened was written all over my face.

I explained what happened, and sat down. I didn’t want to look at any of them, didn’t want to eat anything, just wanted to sit there thinking about how stupid I’d been. Eventually, my friends and hubby encouraged me to move on, try again, and gave me more cash.

The deep fried gummy bear was worth the second chance! Seriously though, be aware of money in the pockets when you are at the local fair.

  • Visited Mill Mountain Zoo           I was craving another animal experience for my birthday, even if it couldn’t involve penguins. Luckily for me, a local small zoo, Mill Mountain Zoo had a free admission day during my birthday weekend, so we were able to check something off the local bucket list! I quickly learned that [...]
  • Kissed an Alpaca in Amish Country This was another year where I did not have the chance to leave the country, but I was able to visit an Amish community and appreciate their culture. • Weathered a Hurricane in OBX Another “Favorite Unblogged 2015 moment” Like most summers/fall we were able to vacation again in the beautiful Outerbanks. • Marveled at a Lindsey Stirling Concer... Another in the “Favorite 2015 Unblogged Moments” series. Randomly, I discovered Lindsey Stirling and her unique sound of dubstep beats mixed with classic violin via Pandora, and she’s been on of my favorite artists since. Her story of overcoming a horrible critic during America’s Got Talent, is inspiring. In 2015 I was lucky enough to [...]

About Me

Hi! My name is Erin, and this is a place to "process out loud" in the words of my friends. You've probably noticed that the theme is kind of a wide theme, that is much like my life as I'm interested in MANY things: traveling, photography, jogging (its new!), being crafty, homesteading, firearms/self defense, and learning how to be a good wife. Through all of these things my goal is growing to know Christ more, and to make Him known. Each post shares a little about the promise that God has given me, that He'll finish what he began in me! (Phil 1:6) So thank you for joining me on this wonderful adventure.
